The production of the videos is more than you see in most porn sites and the video lighting and camerawork is top notch. The sex is also hot and the cameraman catches all the best angles and sounds coming from the two hot models in every scene. It is just a shame they take such a good start and chip away at it a little. My main gripe is - you have all this good video, why not let us customers download it at the highest resolution we can? For now all the videos are offered at 500k streaming online and download. For streaming this is great. I could check out all the scenes and jump around them to see if I liked it before I brought it on to my local computer. They started playing almost instantly and the videos were offered in both windows media and quicktime so Mac or PC it didn't matter. But, unfortunately, the download quality is the same video so you're stuck with a 500k version on your computer - not quite DVD or HD quality. At the time of this review there were 18 videos on this site with no listed update schedule which worried me a little since there's no way to tell when the next scene is going to come.
The Photos:
I wouldn't call them photos as much as I would just call them video stills. It seems like they just went through the video and took little bits of the best footage and organized it into a photo gallery. So all the photos are a standard 720x480. Plus since it's being pulled from video, the photos aren't as crisp as when you take them with a digital camera and you can notice some interlacing lines which doesn't help the quality at all either. There's also no download of the photo sets so you're stuck saving each pic one by one if you are adamant about keeping a copy. All in all, you might as well just save your time and get the video downloads and just hit pause when you see a position you like because you'll pretty much end up getting the same quality as these photo sets.
The Extras:
With access to Gay Hitch Hiker, you also get free membership to a bunch of other reality and HD sites each with their own strengths. The HD sites actually do have high quality HD downloads of the videos and their photo sets seem to be higher quality (although it still doesn't seem like you can download whole set in a zip). The HD sites also have listed update schedules that seem to occur about every 2 weeks so at least you know you can count on some new content there. You also get access to a humorous reality site, Super Twink, where our aspirational young hero seeks to protect the world one act of gay sex at a time. Along with all this if you dig around you'll find access to assorted feeds with a good amount of slightly dated content to keep you occupied for at least a month.
To Wrap It Up:
If you are drawn in by the idea of this website itself you may find things lacking. With inconsistent updates and slightly low quality downloads there's not much to Gay Hitch Hiker itself. Don't get me wrong the sex in the videos is great and the production quality is great, but the scenes itself are not presented as good as they should be. With access to all the bonus sites the value of this site gets a little bit better and there are more things to keep you entertained, but are bonus features enough to keep you around? We were not too optimistic since you find a lot of these extra features on other networks as well. I would say Gay Hitch Hiker is good for a month's viewing to get your fill of some good reality content but without more consistent updates its time to move on.
